# Zero-click search

A zero-click search is a query answered on the results page itself, by a snippet, a panel or an AI overview, so the user never visits a website.

AI answers make zero-click the default for informational and comparison questions. Traffic from those queries falls even for pages that are cited, which is why brand mentions and citations have to be measured directly rather than inferred from visits.

The business response is to be the brand named in the answer, and to treat the citation as the new click.
