# Gemini Visibility Tracker

Gemini answers with grounding from Google Search and shows the pages it used. Its citations arrive as Google redirect links; the tracker resolves them so you see the real pages behind every answer.

## How Gemini answers and cites

When a question benefits from current information, Gemini grounds its answer in Google Search results and attaches the sources it used. Which brands it names depends on those results, so Google indexing and Google rankings feed directly into Gemini visibility.

Google-Extended in robots.txt controls whether a site's content is used for Gemini training and grounding. It does not affect Google Search, AI Overviews or AI Mode.

## How LeapScope tracks Gemini

Prompts are run daily on the Gemini answer surface through a scraping provider and the full answer is stored. Gemini's source links point at a Google redirect service; the tracker resolves each one to its destination page so citation counts are by real domain.

Mentions, positions, sentiment and competitor mentions are extracted from the answer text.

## What is recorded for every prompt

- **Mention**: Whether the brand appears in the answer
- **Position**: First, early or later in the answer
- **Sentiment**: Positive, neutral or negative portrayal
- **Citations**: Grounding sources, resolved from redirects
- **Competitors**: The same for each named competitor
- **History**: One data point per prompt per day

## Limitations

- Gemini does not always show sources; answers without grounding are recorded with no citations.
- Resolving redirect links adds a request per source; a small share of sources may fail to resolve and are reported by their redirect host.

## FAQ

### Why do Gemini citations look like Google redirect links?

Gemini routes source links through a Google redirect service. The tracker follows each redirect to the real page so domains are counted correctly.

### Does blocking Google-Extended hide my site from Gemini?

It opts your content out of Gemini training and grounding. It does not affect Google Search, AI Overviews or AI Mode, which use the normal Googlebot crawl.

### Is Gemini visibility related to Google rankings?

Closely. Grounded Gemini answers draw on Google Search results, so pages that rank for the underlying searches are more likely to be cited.

### Which Gemini surface is tracked?

The consumer Gemini answer surface with grounding, not a bare model API call. Reports state the surface for each data point.

### How often are Gemini prompts run?

Once a day per prompt, in each selected country, like every other engine in the workspace.

## Track Gemini and the other engines from one workspace

LeapScope runs your prompts on every supported engine daily and reports mentions, citations and share of voice side by side.
