Entity

An entity is a thing an engine can identify unambiguously, such as a company, product or person, as opposed to a string of words that might mean several things.

Engines answer questions about entities, so a brand that is a well-defined entity (consistent name, official site, profiles, a knowledge-base record) is easier to mention and less likely to be confused with another.

Entity signals include consistent Organization markup across pages, sameAs links to official profiles, a Wikidata or Wikipedia record where one is warranted, and third-party pages that describe the brand the same way.
