Structured data (JSON-LD)
Structured data is machine-readable markup, usually JSON-LD using schema.org vocabulary, that states what a page is: an article, a product, an organization, a FAQ.
Engines use it to identify entities and content types without guessing. Organization markup ties a brand name to a site and its official profiles; Article markup supplies author and dates; FAQPage supplies question-and-answer pairs in the shape engines quote.
Markup must match the visible page, must parse as valid JSON, and must be in the HTML rather than injected by scripts after load. A checker catches the common failures: invalid JSON, a missing @context, and missing required properties.
